Rest in Peace

WRITER- Amrita Bhattacharya There are wild hopes and dreams and allure aspirations and obstacles, there are many disappointments and betrayals and love and warmth. These make up a day. But what happens in my case? It never seems to me my emotions cloud my judgements. It's as if I'm in a black void under water and I can't seem can't speak, if I open my mouth, I'll sink and die. There are fishes floating? No, it's little round things, some not even round, some are just letters or words, Woah, it's everything that bothers me. These are but my emotions, unlike you, I can't realise what they really are. It's like seeing all of them which is making me vulnerable yet not being able to see them as if--- as if my hands want to stretch and get hold of them, but my mind is too lost to send the impulse. I then see the shapeless emotions and feelings joining and becoming something meaningful or maybe something not so. They become a human, and when it looks a...

Screaming Silence

Every time she touched his skin, a shiver ran down his spine and he felt cold and happy at the same time. The adrenaline rush and the happiness of the moment made everything more vibrant. Everything was perfect, perhaps more than it seems. Life was on a high. His life revolved around her and her's around his. They were the perfect couple everyone longed for and everything was like a daydream. They battered through every storm together and every time, the world tried to push them apart they came closer, more and more until their worlds collide into one. But, amidst the happiness they didn't even realise that sadness was hiding in the dark corner waiting to pounce upon. He never realised how catastrophically it would change his life, perhaps tear him apart and make him a living corpse. The demons robbed him of all his emotions and he was left in the oblivion cold and naked with silence screaming through the darkness. His cries were muffled by the scream of silence and ...

Silver Lining

The rain drops were tickling down her nose and cheeks. She looked up at the sky and felt the rain drops falling straight on her face as if the sky was shattered into thousand pieces, falling one by one. The thunderous roar by the clouds were not out of vengeance, but of the unfathomable pain they were going through. They were in despair just like mankind and were,  seeking redemptions for the sins they have committed. The truth of the situation, was hidden in the lies that were meant to be white, but as years passed and situations changed they turned darker than dark. A place where hallucinations are mistaken for reality and every lie is a truth itself. Though her tears were running down her cheeks, but were shielded by, the mighty ones of those from the clouds. She was in despair her body was numb and her heart was cold, with a storm raging inside the void of her soul, that was tearing her apart. The monotonous sing song, they used to sing together while gazing the stars at nig...

Trusted Betrayal

If you swallow the pill of betrayal you must know,  it is more poisonous than anything. It never reaches your stomach, but as soon as you swallow it, it drops right into your soul. The free fall is precise and well measured. It leaves a minor scar but, the scar is small enough to change your life catastrophically. Trust and faith evaporates in a blink of an eye, all that remains is a soul burnt from vengeance and despair, waiting to crumble and turn to ashes. When the devil's wicked laughter mocks your whole life, you ponder again and again over the question.. "Was this life really worth living?"

Faithless Faith

She was standing on the edge, the edge of devastation the edge of recreation. She has no purpose of living, in this world as this world has given her, sorrows, pain, depression and many such things people consider as downs of life. Every morning, when she woke up, she used to think about the sorrows and pain she was going through and that was yet to come. The anxiety was too much for her to handle but, constant worries crept up in her heart and her heart was in a turmoil. It was almost torn into two halves. The small cheerful one, which considered everything still as beautiful. And the dominant one which was protecting her from loosing her morale. She was lost between her thoughts unable to understand what was the right thing to do. The rebukes and critisizations she faced made her upset. 'People are too cynical  judgemental by nature.' She thought. She was fighting hard to keep her self respect alive, but with passing day it was blowing away like house of cards, one at a t...

Silent Voices

Life support system was beeping continuously with every heartbeat. She was long asleep and the hallway was dead silent. She was comfortably numb with the pain she was going through. Her life was in a turmoil and emotional torment was breaking her from inside. The only thing that was keeping her alive, was the light she was carrying in her heart  A ray of light, not even a ray, just a flicker but it was enough to keep her warm. There was not much reason for anxiety as such but he was 'steady' according the doctors. She embraced herself and prayed to god 'If god want to tread her life for his she was ready to do that.' She longed for his love and affection. The way he used to keep his warm cheek against hers', the way he used to cry with her in her bad times and the heart melting smile he gave, every time she use to sing for him. Everything was clear now, she could hear her own voice, the sweet carefree voice singing in a low tone, and the inaudible snore of a baby...

Uprising of Downfall

Just, as light and darkness do not coexist but, they are meaningless without each other her downfall was awaiting in the darkness waiting to triumph over her success. She had an aura of confidence and her soul was radiating the power of being invincible. She fell right into the abyss and went in deeper and deeper without even realising, that how much one tries it is impossible to reach the end. The dreams vaporised  into fears and the deeper she went the narrower it become. Finally the walls started closing in, and claustrophobia soon engulfed the confidence and power she was thriving upon. She felt as if, she was living death. The hallucinations were just blurred images of her good time, when everything was pleasant and she was still a carefree soul.
