Immortality

The trip was nice and pleasant but no one knew that, their drive back home would be a nightmare. This was certainly beyond her anticipation. Ill omens are difficult to ignore and even more  difficult to accept, but she had a notion somehow maybe in a daydream or a nightmare, that this was coming.
Tom was singing a pleasant tone, and Lisa's inaudible snore enriched the atmosphere and made it more peaceful, when all of a sudden the truck came crashing in. In a moment she saw Tom's head being snapped off his body and also felt a sharp pain down her groin as if someone has fired a bullet down there. Lisa kept crying but slowly her cries turned to slow hums followed by only her breathing and after a minute or two it stopped altogether.
Emotions came rushing in and she found herself gasping for breath.
Her heart ached with pain as her soul was bleeding emotions. This pain was much more than her pain of the iron frame of the car into her groin.
"Where will I go after this?' Her brains screamed.
'To complete the drive with tom and Lisa.' heart replied.
A smile appeared on her lips and she closed her eyes one last time.

“I wanted to tell the book thief many things, about beauty and brutality. But what could I tell her about those things that she didn't already know? I wanted to explain that I am constantly overestimating and underestimating the human race-that rarely do I ever simply estimate it. I wanted to ask her how the same thing could be so ugly and so glorious, and its words and stories so damning and brilliant.” ―  Markus Zusak,  The Book Thief

Excerpt #13

“Usually we walk around constantly believing ourselves. "I'm okay" we say. "I'm alright". But sometimes the truth arrives on you and you can't get it off. That's when you realize that sometimes it isn't even an answer--it's a question. Even now, I wonder how much of my life is convinced.” ―   Markus Zusak,  The Book Thief

Excerpt #8

"I have never before had such a strong feeling that I was devoid of secret dimensions, confined within the limits of my body, from which airy thoughts float up like bubbles. I build memories with my present self. I am cast out, forsaken in the present: I vainly try to rejoin the past: I cannot escape." --Jean Paul Sartre, Nausea
