Excerpt #12

“I wanted to tell the book thief many things, about beauty and brutality. But what could I tell her about those things that she didn't already know? I wanted to explain that I am constantly overestimating and underestimating the human race-that rarely do I ever simply estimate it. I wanted to ask her how the same thing could be so ugly and so glorious, and its words and stories so damning and brilliant.”

― Markus Zusak, The Book Thief

Silver Lining

The rain drops were tickling down her nose and cheeks. She looked up at the sky and felt the rain drops falling straight on her face as if the sky was shattered into thousand pieces, falling one by one. The thunderous roar by the clouds were not out of vengeance, but of the unfathomable pain they were going through. They were in despair just like mankind and were,  seeking redemptions for the sins they have committed. The truth of the situation, was hidden in the lies that were meant to be white, but as years passed and situations changed they turned darker than dark. A place where hallucinations are mistaken for reality and every lie is a truth itself. Though her tears were running down her cheeks, but were shielded by, the mighty ones of those from the clouds. She was in despair her body was numb and her heart was cold, with a storm raging inside the void of her soul, that was tearing her apart. The monotonous sing song, they used to sing together while gazing the stars at night,

Screaming Silence

Every time she touched his skin, a shiver ran down his spine and he felt cold and happy at the same time. The adrenaline rush and the happiness of the moment made everything more vibrant. Everything was perfect, perhaps more than it seems. Life was on a high. His life revolved around her and her's around his. They were the perfect couple everyone longed for and everything was like a daydream. They battered through every storm together and every time, the world tried to push them apart they came closer, more and more until their worlds collide into one. But, amidst the happiness they didn't even realise that sadness was hiding in the dark corner waiting to pounce upon. He never realised how catastrophically it would change his life, perhaps tear him apart and make him a living corpse. The demons robbed him of all his emotions and he was left in the oblivion cold and naked with silence screaming through the darkness. His cries were muffled by the scream of silence and

Heartquake

Does it really matter how everything ends? For some it does, and for some it doesn’t. But, those people who rush in and tear the strings of our life, never give a backward glance, to see how we are and how we ought to be. They walk on the smooth path never being aware how it feels to walk barefoot on a bumpy road. For them life is like a highway without turns. With each and every step they take, the memories fade into distance and eventually after a point of time they are merely grave stones lying in their valley of flowers. For us things are pretty different, we like to live in a false illusion where everything is alright without even thinking of the reality. We let them ruin our lives in our memories even after they have left. If we aren’t strong enough, our soul will avenge us. We will keep decaying form within. But, we should realise that there are no beginnings without endings. Therefore an ending is  just the beginning of a new life.
